Energy Inspectors Office Building
Las Vegas, Nevada
NOVUS Architecture was selected to design the new Las Vegas Headquarters of Energy Inspectors (EI). EI provides LEED and sustainability services to the home building industry on a National level and have been the Environmental Protection Agencies Energy Star Partner of the Year for the past 10 years. The project is net-zero and Certified LEED Gold by the U.S. Green Building Council. The building program includes office space, multi-purpose training rooms and material testing laboratories.
The design features an open and flexible interior environment with high ceilings, operable windows and daylighting controls. Each space will have ample natural daylighting and views and access to thermal comfort controls. The design team explored a variety of exterior building materials which include a Structural Insulated Panel System (SIPS), Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF’s), and Autocalved Aerated Concrete (AAC) panels as well as some of the more traditional materials such as insulated metal panels and EIFS.
The project showcases a large Building Integrated photovoltaic array to assist in achieving the net-zero energy goal. We also met the challenging goals of reducing the building’s energy consumption by 48% and reducing water consumption by 50%. A Construction Waste Management Plan diverted over 90% of construction waste from landfill and recycle it into other products. The project opened in September 2015.
