NORTH LAS VEGAS DOWNTOWN AREA COMMAND CENTER

This two-story facility was designed to house the South Area Command of the North Las Vegas Police Department. All public areas are located on the first level and contain report taking, a victim advocate office, a large community room, and lobby. Also on the first level, but secure, is the briefing/roll-call room, operations support, evidence lockers, special equipment storage, fitness room and lockers. The administrative suite, investigations suite, training offices and training classrooms are all secure on the second level. During the Building Programming phase, we worked very closely with the users and our Public Safety Consultant to ensure space adjacencies and circulation were safe, secure and efficient for staff and the general public.

Other safety considerations were the location, type, and size of all windows, exterior wall materials, lighting and building access. Building materials were carefully selected for their durability and bullet resistant characteristics. Our team completed 100% Construction Documents & Specifications for the project before the City of North Las Vegas put the project on hold because of the economic decline.

Dwayne R. Eshenbaugh, AIA completed this project while an Associate with Dekker/Perich/Sabatini.  Dwayne’s role was Project Manager and Design Architect.
