BLUE CHIP HOTEL AND CASINO BALLROOMS
The Boyd Gaming Corporation hired NOVUS Architecture as the Architect and Interior Designer to design a new 25,000 square foot expansion of the existing Blue Chip Casino Convention Center in Michigan City, Indiana. The project site had significant restrictions due to a utility corridor easement bisecting the site and poor soil quality. Our team conducted a site analysis and studied multiple site layouts before choosing a viable plan that was acceptable to the owner and local public utility companies, using the utility corridor. A series of 90-foot deep micro piles and grade beams were used for the building foundation system. The exterior building design seamlessly matches the architectural style of the existing casino tower and convention center. The contemporary interior design is a significant upgrade and was also used to refresh the existing convention center in Phase 2 of the project. A large back-of-house area will house a large pantry, IT room, and 4,000 square feet of general storage area. NOVUS Architecture selected all of the furniture, fixtures, and equipment for the project, which was completed in November 2019.
